Rotary del Sol Awarded $5,000 Grant
(November 19, 2008) Rancho Santa Margarita, CA - On Tuesday, November 18, 2008, the Rotary Club of Coto de Caza and Rancho Santa Margarita del Sol was awarded a $5,000 matching grant from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International which will be used to help provide high school education to children from poverty-level families living in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. Public assistance to attend high school is not available to most of the youth in San Felipe. Grant funds will be used by qualified students to offset the cost of tuition, books and school uniforms. The grant funds will also help provide tutoring to those students who need it.
Rotary del Sol adopted the School Kids Scholarship program in 2005 as one of the Club’s international service projects. Rotary del Sol partners with Rotary San Felipe in working to identify the students who qualify for the scholarships. This grant, when combined with the $5,000 donated by Rotary del Sol, will double the number of youth that will be able to participate in this special scholarship program.
